The Ahafo Region proudly marked this year’s International Women’s Day with a dedicated focus on addressing water challenges across the region. Under the leadership of the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, the celebration emphasized the critical role of water in ensuring hygiene, health, and overall community well-being.
With the theme Water is Life (NSUO NE NKWA), Hon. Charity Gardiner underscored the importance of clean and accessible water in daily life. Acknowledging the struggles many communities face in accessing potable water, her office, with support from Necentric Campaigns, launched the NSUO NE NKWA project. This initiative aims to construct new water infrastructure and repair faulty water systems across the region.
The minister emphasized that the NSUO NE NKWA project is a bold step towards improving the quality of life for residents of Ahafo. By ensuring access to clean water, the project aligns with global efforts to enhance Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) standards. “It’s WASH time—WATER, SANITATION, and HYGIENE for a healthier Ahafo,” she declared.
The initiative’s impact is expected to be far-reaching, alleviating the burden of water scarcity and promoting better health outcomes for communities. Through this effort, Hon. Charity Gardiner continues to demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to sustainable development in Ahafo. The celebration of International Women’s Day, therefore, became not only a moment to recognize the achievements of women but also a platform to drive meaningful change in the region.
