In a recent endorsement, former Sanitation Minister Dr. Freda Prempeh has lauded the selection and approval of Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, as the running mate for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in the upcoming December presidential elections. Dr. Bawumia’s choice was presented to the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, July 4, and received unanimous approval.

Dr. Freda Prempeh emphasized NAPO’s extensive experience and qualifications, highlighting his four-term tenure as a Member of Parliament and his ministerial roles in both the Education and Energy ministries. “It is impossible for an incompetent person to be sent to the Education Ministry and later handed the Energy Ministry. This means the President has seen something unique in Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh,” she remarked.

She underscored NAPO’s capability to assist Dr. Bawumia in navigating political challenges, pointing out that his rich political experience is invaluable. According to Dr. Prempeh, NAPO’s expertise and track record make him an excellent choice for the role, capable of significantly contributing to the campaign’s success.

In her interview with Samuel Mensah (Joe Pawa), Dr. Freda Prempeh called on all NPP members and supporters to rally behind Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia. She stressed the importance of unity and collective effort within the party to ensure victory in the upcoming elections and to achieve the goal of “breaking the eight”—a reference to maintaining NPP leadership beyond the typical two-term limit.

Dr. Freda Prempeh’s endorsement reflects a strong confidence in NAPO’s ability to complement Dr. Bawumia and bolster the NPP’s electoral prospects. As the party gears up for a competitive election season, her call for support highlights the need for cohesion and determination among party members.
