The German Embassy in Accra has paid tribute to the late highlife artiste, Daddy Lumba, acknowledging his profound impact on music and culture.
In a statement released on Monday, July 28, the Embassy conveyed its condolences to the people of Ghana and music enthusiasts worldwide following the passing of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, better known as Daddy Lumba.

The Embassy highlighted Germany’s pivotal role in shaping Daddy Lumba’s illustrious career, noting that it was during his time in Germany in the late 1980s that he transitioned from gospel music to highlife. It was there that he met fellow Ghanaian musician Nana Acheampong in 1989, and the two formed the famous Lumba Brothers, a group widely credited with popularizing Borga Highlife.
Philip Appiah Kobi popularly known as Roman Fadda who was the running mate of late Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), on behalf of the team, thanked the German Ambassador, and the entire German nation for the tribute to the legendary artist.
He also commended the people of Germany for their cordial relationship with Ghanaian musicians living in the country, especially their support of highlife musicians.
