Idris Elba Encourages Ghana Government To Push Education In Creative Arts. Popular British actor Idris Elba is pushing an agenda for the Ghana government to educate in the creative arts sector, according to an article on Myjoyonline.com.
The Beast of No Nation actor was in Ghana where he paid a courtesy call to the president of the republic and promised to build a film studio in Ghana and some parts of West Africa.
The actor said the film studio will boost the film industry and attract foreign investors.
Apart from his vision to build the studio, Idris Elba thinks creative arts education in the country should be encouraged and be made more functional.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based radio station Opimsoɔ FM as reported by Myjoyonline.com, the actor said “Part of the plan that we have, which is building a studio, is policy. The policy comes from the government and it makes sure people can find a way to industrialize filmmaking”
Idris explained that education is very important as part of the building of the studios to propagate the film industry. He says that young people who want to be in the film sector and work must go to school. He said the school is the entry point.
He laments that his team has taken it upon themselves to boost the education process in the creative arts sector. They would find a way of adding education to the building of film studios in Africa.
Idris Elba noted the government of Ghana must push education in the creative arts sector.
“We are encouraging the government of Ghana to really push education in creative arts,” he noted.
Idris Elba had on Friday, February 3, 2023, after visiting Akufo Addo, announced his plans to help the film sector by building modern film studios to attract foreign investors.
