Former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, once a towering figure in the realm of sports administration, faced a stark reality check in the Ejisu parliamentary primary.
Defying initial setbacks, including a hospital detention, Nyantakyi mustered only 35 votes, landing him in 5th place on the ballot. The incumbent 2nd Deputy Constituency Chairman, Kwame Boateng, emerged victorious with a commanding 393 votes.
The battle for supremacy saw Helena Mensah as Boateng’s closest contender, garnering 302 votes. Nyantakyi’s diminished influence underscores the shifting dynamics within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ejisu Constituency, signaling a seismic shift in local political landscapes.
As Boateng secures his stronghold, Nyantakyi’s political aspirations face a harsh reality, highlighting the unforgiving nature of electoral politics.
