Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on Sunday, February 19, 2023, via Instagram and Facebook.

According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the new service will allow and give authentication and protection to accounts on Instagram and Facebook, and perhaps WhatsApp.

In the statement seen by Cediweb.com on  https://edition.cnn.com, Mark reveals the new verification badge will expand verification access to individuals and companies, a process meant to do away with the impersonation of accounts.

Verified accounts will also get access to direct customer supports as an added advantage on consistent paid services.

The new services will provide additional security to subscribers.

Meta, in the statement, said, the new verification procedure only involves a submission of Government approved ID cards that will allow one to get the blue badge on paid services.

The Meta verified will start at $11.9 monthly on Web and $14.99 on iOS.

Mark Zuckerberg said the new Meta paid verification service will be rolled out in Australia and New Zealand this week and will be expanded to other parts of the world later.

This means that Meta joins Twitter whose paid verification services, Twitter Blue, was extended to other parts under Elon Musk, who bought the platform for $44 billion.

Twitter Blue gives access to accounts to have verification badges for $11 monthly for iOS and android subscribers
