Accra, Ghana – The much-anticipated Ghana Mall has officially opened, marking a new era of economic opportunity for young entrepreneurs and local businesses in Ghana. This groundbreaking project is led by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, and it forms a central pillar of the BizBox Project—a nationwide initiative designed to provide business support to 250,000 young entrepreneurs.
Located in the heart of Accra, the Ghana Mall serves as a bustling marketplace for over 800 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase their locally produced goods and services. In a bid to support and uplift local businesses, the mall seeks to promote Made-in-Ghana products, enhance business visibility, and expand revenue streams for participating entrepreneurs.
“The Ghana Mall is more than just a retail centre,” said Mrs Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, CEO of the Ghana Enterprises Agency. “It’s a hub for collaboration, innovation, and economic empowerment, offering opportunities for our youth to scale their businesses and thrive.”
The Ghana Mall is strategically designed to achieve several key objectives. With an emphasis on increased visibility and market accessibility, the mall provides a platform for BizBox participants to connect directly with consumers, enabling them to expand their reach and boost sales revenue. Additionally, the mall promotes networking, creating a B2B ecosystem where suppliers, producers, and other businesses can connect and forge valuable collaborations.
The mall’s focus on promoting Made-in-Ghana products aligns with the government’s goal to elevate locally produced goods, positioning Ghanaian entrepreneurs on the path to compete in broader markets. This initiative is also expected to generate job opportunities for the youth, driving income generation and overall economic growth.
Beyond its economic impact, the Ghana Mall symbolizes a beacon of inspiration and innovation for young entrepreneurs. The mall management team has pledged to implement sustainable operational practices, ensuring its longevity while minimizing environmental impact. By prioritizing customer service, the Ghana Mall aims to create a welcoming and positive shopping experience that encourages repeat visits.
In attendance at the grand opening were Hon. Solomon Kotei Nikoi, Municipal Chief Executive of La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA); Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, CEO of the Ghana Enterprises Agency; and Hon. Kofi Ahenkora Marfo, Deputy Minister of Trade, who collectively expressed their hopes for the mall to become a catalyst for economic resilience.
The Ghana Mall invites MSMEs across the country to seize this unique opportunity to expand their businesses, contribute to national economic growth, and showcase the richness of locally made products. With the support of the Ghanaian public, the Ghana Mall aspires to foster a prosperous, self-sustaining economy where small businesses can flourish and inspire the next generation of Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
As Ghana embarks on this journey of growth and innovation, the Ghana Mall stands as a testament to the country’s commitment to empowering its youth and building a vibrant, resilient economy.
