Prince Harry is preparing to return to the UK next week for the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, a multisport Paralympic-style event he established in 2014 for injured servicemen and veterans.
This trip marks Harry’s first visit across the pond since February when he visited his ailing father, King Charles.
However, according to recent reports, Harry’s return may not be met with a warm welcome from the King. Despite Harry’s intentions to see his family “as much as I can,” King Charles reportedly does not share the same enthusiasm, with the Telegraph suggesting the King might be too “busy” with other engagements to schedule time for a meeting with his son.
Items occupying King Charles’ schedule include a weekly audience with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the season’s first garden party at Buckingham Palace. If a meeting does occur, it is expected to be brief. Additionally, senior members of the royal family are not anticipated to attend Prince Harry’s event.
While the situation may seem tense, reports indicate that King Charles is considering inviting Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their childrenāPrince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2āto Balmoral Castle this summer. This would provide an opportunity for the King to spend time with his grandchildren.
For now, Harry and Meghan will have to endure a bit more time in their Montecito home, benefiting from their Netflix streaming deal and Meghan’s growing jam business.
