Get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Culpeper with a variety of activities and events for all ages! The American Battlefield Trust, Culpeper Battlefield Tours, Museum of Culpeper History, Culpeper Tourism, and the Brandy Station Foundation are sponsoring a sold-out Battle of Kelly’s Ford 160th Anniversary Guided Tour, led by Dan Davis and John Christiansen. The tour departs at 10 a.m. from the Graffiti House in Brandy Station and features a trolley and walking tour of historic sites.
In the Town of Culpeper, there will be a St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Kelly Street, with a green-themed fundraiser for the Kelly Street Boxing Club for at-risk youth. The event, organized by Jon Russell, runs from noon to 4 p.m. and will feature bagpipes, a kids’ parade, Irish dancers and singers, a King & Queen Ginger Contest, and a kids’ treasure hunt for real gold. Tickets are available for $10 for adults on Eventbrite, and children 12 and under get in for free.
For those who want to get moving before the festivities, the Blue Devils Athletic Boosters Club is hosting the Gold Rush 5K and Kids Sprint event starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday on the cross-country course at Culpeper County High School. Area businesses are sponsoring the event, which benefits the CCHS Athletic Department and athletes. Register starting at 6:30 a.m. on site.
Various local businesses and organizations will also celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with events today and tonight. The Windmore Foundation for the Arts in the State Theater will have a themed open craft time with a snack from noon to 4 p.m. today. Far Gohn Brewery on South East Street is hosting a St. Patty’s Day Social Run from 5-7 p.m. tonight, followed by food, green beer, and live music from the Blue Bottleneck Band starting at 7. Meanwhile, at Culpeper Eagles club, there will be a potluck at 7 p.m. with an open mic jamboree, so bring a dish to share and an instrument to play.
Death Ridge Brewery in Jeffersonton will be celebrating St. Pattyās Day, opening today at noon with a special menu. If you find a gold coin in your cup, you’ll get a free pint. Over at Beer Hound Brewery, theyāll be tapping “Declan,” a new Irish lager today. Master piper Davis Hinston will be back from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, playing bagpipes and drums.
