Chief Executive Officer for Tamale City Mohammed Iddi has condemned the attack by some Aduana FC fans on players and officials of Tamale City in the aftermath of the league fixture between the two sides at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
Aduana needed a 90+10-minute penalty to emerge 1-0 winners over Tamale City and stretched their lead at the top of the table to 44 points, three ahead of second-placed Bechem United.
After the game, some fans of the Dormaa based side pelted stones at the bus of Tamale City leaving some players and officials injured in the process.
The Ghana Football Association subsequently reacted to the incident that transpired and have placed a temporary ban on the home venue of Aduana Stars, ie . Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
Speaking to Citi Sports in an exclusive interview, Mohammed Iddi stated that such acts by a section of Aduana fans is a huge dent on the local top flight league in the bid to improve attendance at the various venues in the ongoing betpawa premier league.
“When you are doing something wrong, you should know that the law will definitely take care of that.”
“Football brings us together; we are one family.”
“For the past month, we are preaching about raising spectators at the various venues, such acts by these supporters of Aduana FC will scare people away from watching the league.”
“We us leaders of the club have to come together and educate fans very well on how football is run.”
“Football is a fair play game, you can win today, draw tomorrow and lose points in other games, that is what football fans should understand.”
“For the ban on Aduana FC not to play at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, I commend the FA for that.”
The FA have since issued a temporary ban of Aduana’s home ground.
According to the Ghana Football Association it is in accordance with the GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2) which states among other things “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.”’
What this means is that, Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex will serve as the new home grounds for the league leaders temporarily.
Aduana Stars sit at the top of the 2022/23 betpawa premier league and will take on struggling Accra Great Olympics in the match week 26.
