According to Fred Kyei Mensah, he has suffered several attacks from cobras in the creative arts industry, which have resulted in losing some juicy offers in his line of work.
The entertainment pundit was speaking using the language of a song which is currently the talk of town in Ghana.
The viral song, Cobra, has occasioned hordes of people, on TikTok especially, mimicking the movement of the snake with their hands in varied dance routines.
Singer Obaapa Gladys’, it cautions that not everyone close to a person necessarily has their best interest at heart. It advises her audience to be vigilant seeing as cobras, pretentious wicked people, are all around waiting to strike on one’s blindside.
Fred Kyei Mensah, founder and CEO of Fredyma Studios, produced the Cobra hit.
He spoke to sit-in host Prince Benjamin (PB) on Entertainment Capital, Saturday, October 7, 2023.
He noted that he has been “bitten by various cobras,” adding: “People can be so wicked. When an opportunity opens up for you, they say all sorts of bad things about you. Behind the scenes, I will mention some names to you – you’d be surprised.”
A legendary sound engineer and music producer, he lamented that he once lost a deal to be a judge on a reality TV show because a fellow usurped the position.
“Oh, Fredyma is out of fashion. We’re the ones currently on the radio,” Fred Kyei Mensah quoted the unnamed fellow’s words.
Meanwhile, commenting about the sudden popularity of the eight-month-old Cobra song, Mensah exclaimed: “The works of God are wondrous!”
