Various outlets including the daily mail report that Lionel Messi could win the award following his world cup exploit with the Argentian National Team in Qatar 2022.
The Captain of the Argentina National Team won the player of the tournament scoring seven and assisting four in the entire tournament. The triumph by the PSG man and former Fc Barcelona skipper has positioned him to win the award.
Benzema also makes the list after winning the 2022 Ballon d’Or after his triumph with Real Madrid in the Champions league. Karim makes the final three list for the first time in the FIFA best player award.
Mbappe, who won the Golden Ball at the Qatar 2022 world cup helping France to reach the finals, also made the final list expecting to win the laurel.
Mbappe’s exploits at the world cup became atopic after grabbing a Hat trick in the final against Argentina but failed to win the trophy.
The winner of the various categories will be announced on February 27, 2023, at a ceremony in France, Paris.
