Rapheal Nii Armah Konyah, tour manager and backing vocalist for Kofi Nti, is calling upon Ghanaian artists and industry stakeholders to uphold and elevate the Ghanaian music genre, thereby attracting more investment and recognition.
He stresses that for Ghanaian music to achieve global recognition, language should not pose a barrier. “Our musical identity is our strength,” he asserts, urging consistency among artists to yield desired outcomes.
Raphael expresses concern over Ghanaian artists embracing foreign genres at the expense of their own, fearing it dilutes the unique essence of Ghanaian music. “We risk losing our identity by blindly following trends from other nations,” he warns.
He urges government bodies, such as MUSIGA, and other organizations to allocate funds towards this cause to facilitate international recognition for local artists.
Raphael advocates for similar initiatives in Ghana. He emphasizes the need for innovative strategies to unite all stakeholders in advancing the music industry.
Encouraging confidence in Ghanaian music production, Konyaha implores stakeholders to prioritize its promotion and marketing efforts. He believes that with determination and collective action, Ghanaian music can achieve the recognition it rightfully deserves on the global stage.
