John Paintsil Blames Ghana Football Asociation For Ignoring Christian Atsu. Though Ghanaians are mourning Christian Atsu after his body arrived in the country on Sunday, February 19, 2023, John Paintsil has called out the governing body of football in the country, the Ghana Football Association for snubbing Christian Atsu who played actively at the age of 31.
According to John, the Ghana Football Association refused to call Christian Atsu to the Black Stars and ignored him at the time he was clubless but turned to act as if they care after the demise of the former Chelsea man.
He described the Action of the FA as hypocritical, according to Ghanasoccernet.com
Speaking in an interview with Original Fm, John Paintsil disclosed the FA snubbed Christian Atsu and that impacted his chances of getting a permanent stay with clubs moving from one club to another before his unfortunate incident in Turkey.
Paintsil argued that clubs value and respect players who play for their National teams and that Atsu’s struggle was partly the snub from the Ghana Football Association.
John Paintsil added the FA is pretending like they care and love Christian Atsu after he passed away but in actual sense, they don’t.
Christian Atsu was found under the rubble after the earthquake in Turkey about two weeks ago. The former Black Stars winger was found after a massive search. His body has been flown to Ghana and the family is making arrangements for his burial Services.
Christian Atsu, during his active playing days, played 69 matches and scored 9 goals for the National team.
In 2015, Christian Atsu won the African Cup of the Nations player of the tournament and the goal of the Tournament. He was instrumental in helping the Black Stars reach the final.
